Volunteer with Sixes FIre

Contrary to popular belief, volunteering on a local fire department isn't always running into burning buildings! There is a real need for many other tasks and positions including drivers who can safely operate the apparatus, logistics support, mechanics, grant writers, wilderness experts for search and rescue, auxiliary members to help fundraise--the list goes on.

At Sixes River Fire, we are truly a family: taking care of eachother while we serve the community. Various volunteer opportunities are listed below. If one or more of these sounds interesting, we would love to have a conversation with you! Please go to our contact page and send us a message. We look forward to hearing from you!

Firefighters

These are the volunteers who show up when there is a car wreck, a wildland fire, a house fire or a medical emergency. There are positions for drivers, safety personnel, vehicle accident technicians, wildland firefighters and more. All training is provided! We would love you hear from you! Click HERE to get in touch.

Logistics

Want to help but prefer a more "behind the scenes" scene? We have support personnel staff who take on many projects and tasks to support the firefighters and the operations they perform-and all without ever stepping foot on a fire scene. These tasks include (but not limited to), filing, grant writing, mechanical maintenance on vehicles, building improvements & maintenance, equipment and tool maintenance, record keeping, safety committee operations and more. If this seems like something you would enjoy, please contact us!

Jr. Firefighter
cadet program

Open to local youths who are ages 15-18 and interested in the fire service. This long standing program was implemented in 1998 and has been going strong ever since. Sixes Fire has had several Jr. Firefighters go on to becoming firefighters on paid career departments as well as career wildland firefighters. Cadets also receive community service which count toward their graduation requirements. If this sounds like something you would enjoy, we would love to hear from you! Send us a message HERE
