With one of the smallest operating budgets in the entire state of Oregon, Sixes RFPD Auxiliary helps to bridge the gap by fundraising and hosting three main events every year! The Auxiliary is a registered 501c(3) and exists solely to support the Sixes Fire Dept. and its volunteers.

If you are looking for a great way to serve the community but don't necessarily want to fight fire, the Auxiliary is a productive way to help and have a ton of fun raising money for a great cause. Please go to our CONTACT page and message us to learn more about the exciting opportunities in the Sixes RFPD Auxiliary!

THe Hometown Heroes
Fair, 5k and Car show
Taking place the third Saturday in August every year, the Hometown Heroes Fair has something for everyone! This is a free event for the whole family with vendors, food trucks, a 5k walk/run in the morning, bounce houses, a car show and free safety demos with prizes for the kids. All of our local first responders usually attend including but not limited to: the local fire departments, police, EMS, the Coast Guard and Coos Forest Protection District.

There are new and exciting additions to this event every year in Port Orford-you won't want to miss it!

The Easter Day celebration
Pancake feed-egg hunt-duck derby

One of the best ways to spend Easter morning is with your local volunteer firefighters! Let us cook you a scrumptious pancake breakfast while the kids hang out with the Easter Bunny. Afterwards, the free Easter egg hunt begins with categories for different age groups and prizes for all. The grand finale is our annual Duck Derby where "your" duck will race down the Sixes River and the winning ducks receive cash prizes! This is one of our favorite family events that takes place at the one and only Sixes Grange Hall. See you there!

THe Annual Chili and Mac & Cheese Cookoff with dessert auction
One of our first established fundraising events, our Chili Cookoff has become a Winter-time must! With so many local chili and mac & cheese dishes to try, it's easy to call this event dinner! Be sure to leave room though, for the pie eating contest and dessert auction to satisfy that sweet tooth!

The chili cookoff has historically taken place in November every year, but it is now being adjusted, so we will see you again in January of 2027!

Community Outreach
One of the ways Sixes Fire and the Sixes RFPD Auxiliary gives back to the community is through our community outreach. Firefighters and Auxiliary Members (all volunteers) host the events listed above as well as participate in community education programs. From open houses, defensible space grant awareness, classroom education for the local youth, our Jr. Firefighter cadet program and fire safety fairs, Sixes Fire is committed to keeping our local communities safe, informed, and involved. If you have an idea for an outreach or would like to help with this program, please contact us!
